Client: Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors

Location: Rosyth

Time Scale: 5 weeks

Design Team: Sign Plus Limited

Challenge

Sign Plus was first introduced to Forth Crossing Bridge Construction (FCBC) back in November 2011. Sign Plus supplied various signs for the New Forth Crossing Head Office in Rosyth including internal directional signs, site safety signs and exhibition stands. David Watt (Communications Manager) approached our Key Account Sales Manager with the unusual request to wrap the gable end of the nine portacabin office facility.

Approach

FCBC had a 3D computer generated image of the new bridge which they wanted to scale up across the building. Sign Plus set to work investigating the most appropriate type of material for this project. The wrap would be displayed for a minimum of seven years and be exposed to the elements being so close to the coast. Sign Plus worked closely with FCBC, the Belgium design team and photographer to create the perfect back drop for the image of the bridge to be applied to. We used an American product called Arlon specifically designed for wrapping portacabins.

Results

Arguably the largest external building wrap in Scotland, this is an impressive use of colour sitting on the banks of the River Forth. Our design team spent 40 hrs perfecting the graphic. Printing and laminating took a further 100hrs and the application took 3 fitters 15 days to complete.
